MHA asks NE states to monitor bank transactions
Aizawl, Dec 7 (UNI) Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has alerted the Northeast states to monitor the transaction of financial institutions of the region following intelligence inputs that the banned insurgent outfits are using banks to transfer funds from abroad.
Referring MHA communique, the state home department officials here today said the anti-India forces are receiving funds from abroad especially from West Asia countries through hawala and other informal channels.
Apart form collecting tax and levy of cess and extortions, the terrorist outfits of Northeast and naxal-affected states are getting funds from outside sources, the officials stated.
''MHA instructed the respective state governments as well as security and law enforcement agencies to pursue an inter-agency approach to detect sources and channels of all funds, which are coming from outside,'' they said.
It has also directed the state governments to enhance the intelligence network of the region for monitoring the militant activities against the development of Northeast, officials said adding that MHA suggested to strengthen inter-state coordination among the security forces.
