Manipur MP pitches for rail head upto Manipur
Imphal, Dec 7: The Lok Sabha MP Dr Thokchom Meinya drew the attention of the Union Minister of Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav for timely completion of the Jiribam-Tupul Rail Line within the stipulated time, that is, by 2010 so that Manipur can have a rail head.
The Manipur Information Centre said participating at the discussion on Demands for Excess Grants (Railways) for the year 2004-05 and the Supplementary Demands for Grants (Railways) for the year 2006-07 in the Lok Sabha recently, Dr Meinya said Manipur had no rail line till then, but would have a rail line by 2010.
He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, the UPA Chairman and the Railway Minister for laying the foundation stone of the first ever railhead at Jiribam for the Jiribam-Tupul (Imphal) Rail Line in 2004.
He also reminded that it was a national project and was targeted completion by 2010.
Dr Meinya also praised the Railway Minister for the good job done by his Ministry and his team of officers.
