LDF retains Thiruvambady on narrow margin
Kozhikode, Dec 6 (UNI) Ruling Left Democratic Front candidate George M Thomas (CPI-M) was today declared elected from Thiruvambai Assembly seat in Kerala by a narrow margin of 246 votes.
He defeated United Democratic Front's V M Ummer of the Indian Union Muslim League in a closely contested fight in the election necessitated by the death of CPI(M) leader Mathai Chacko.
Mr Thomas polled 64,11 votes against his UDF rival who got 63,866 votes, while BJP's Girish Thevalli got 4,758 votes.
