JD(U) wins Manihari assembly by-poll
Katihar, Dec 7 (UNI) Vishwanath Singh (JD-U) today won the Manihari assembly bypoll in Bihar, defeating his nearest Congress rival Hamid Mubarak by a margin of 2758 votes.
The JD(U) wrested the seat from the Congress in the by-election, held on December 4.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Mubarak Hussain. Mr Mubarak is the son of Mr Hussain.
The ruling NDA was in an upbeat mood following its victory, as it had also won the by-elections to both Bhagalpur and Nalanda parliamentary seats earlier.
