IOC to introduce 1,000 high tech petrol stations by March

Chandigarh, Dec 7 (UNI) To provide fast and safe service with the highest level of quality and quantity assurance, the IndianOil Corporation (IOC) has decided to introduce 1,000 fully automated petrol stations with an estimated cost of Rs 170 crore by March next year in the country.

IOC Director (Marketing) G C Daga while inaugurating the fully automated petrol station here today said, ''IndianOil's Retail automation plan is yet another offering designed to provide fast and safe service with the highest level of quality and quantity assurance and enhanced forecourt service to the customers.'' He went on to add that at the point of sale, the pump attendants and managers handling the forecourt service would be empowered with tools that would enhance the quality of customer service.

Mr Daga said, ''Indian Oil has in the recent past take several pioneering initiatives in the retail outlet formats, loyalty programms, creating new infrastrcuture besides introducing value added products and services.

''Our twin initiatives which we dedicate to our esteemed customers are a testimony to indianOil's dedication and commitment towards customer service,'' he added.

Retail Automation would go a long way in enhancing operational efficiency resulting in better management of assests and greater assurance in quality and quantity of fuels. It would also improve the acceptance of various payment modes at the pumps iself.

IndianOil's state-of-the-art automation project also includes automatic tank level guages for monitoring quality parameters of the fuel, temperature and density measruement sensors, back office servers with dispensing unit control, automatic bill printing facility, regular updation of customer database etc. It also includes dispenser access systems, outdoor payment terminals with receipt printers, credit/debit and loyalty card readers, point of sale terminals etc. Every time fuel is dispensesd, a bill detailing the dispensing unit and the attendant who delivered the product will be generated.

On this occiasion he also launched the hi-tech LPG refill booking kiosk using the touch screen technology. Indane customers in the city can use this system for booking their LPG refills. All that the customer has to do is walking upto the couch screen placed at the outlet and then select the name of of his distributor, feed in his consumer number and press the submit button. Within five minutes he will receive a response from the concerned distributor confirming the receipt of his booking along with his booking number.
