IMC signs MOU with PAIiIZ for mutual co-operation

Mumbai, Dec 7: Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) for mutual assistance and co-operation.

IMC president Mr Nayan Patel and PAIiIZ's vice-president Mr Wojciech Szelogowski signed the documents at the end of a seminar on 'Doing Business with Poland' at the IMC Hall.

On the occasion Mr Patel said IMC always acted as a catalyst in fostering Indo-Polish trade and economic co-operation by receiving and sponsoring bilateral trade delegations.

While citing examples for close friendship between two countries, he said ''There are streets in Warsaw and Krakow cities named after Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Indira Gandhi'' and in March last year, the Polish Prime Minister extended his strong support to India's candidature for permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

Patel pointed out that there are important Indian investments in Poland, particularly in sectors like IT, electronics, pharmaceuticals, steel, agricultural equipment, healthcare, packaging etc. There are polish investments in India in sectors like pharmaceuticals and personal hygiene products.

Mr Wojciech Szelogowski yesterday said the objective of the PAIiIZ delegation, which he was leading, was to highlight the investment opportunities in his country, and to brief Indian investors about the taxes, SEZ, incentives, public aid and legal aspects of setting up a business there.

''We invite you to invest in our country for marketing your products to 400 million consumers in Europe. We assure you that your investment in areas of manufacturing electronic hardware, chemicals, auto components, foods, agro-products and IT have great prospects,'' he added.
