HC takes stern view of misuse of beacons, hooters

Lucknow, Dec 7 (UNI) Taking a stern view of red/blue beacons, black screens and sirens/hooters aton vehicles, Allahabad High Court today directed the Chief Judicial Magistrates of all the districts to present a survey report by January 20.

The Lucknow Bench of the HC comprising Justices Devi Prasad Singh and J M Paliwal passed the order on a writ filed by Suresh Awasthi.

The HC further issued directions to the Registrar General to send a copy of the order to all the CJMs.

The petitioner had alleged that notwithstanding the HC order, beacons/hooters were being misused in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act. The next hearing has been fixed for January 31, 2007.
