Govt receives 16 bids for Sasan, Mundra; bids to open on Dec 11
New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) The government today received 10 bids for the Sasan ultra mega power project and six bids for Mundra ultra mega power project, The evaluation process of the bids is expected to be completed by December 9 and are likely to be opened on December 11, sources said.
The bidders for the pithead Sasan project include Torrent Power, Jindal Steel &Power, Lanco with overseas partner Globeleg, Jaiprakash Associates and National Thermal Power Corporation, Essar Power, L&T, Tata Power, Sterlite Industries, and Reliance Energy are the common bidders for both the mega projects.
The technical and financial bids for the 4,000 MW each projects are being evaluated by a six-member apex committee including Punjab National Bank Chairman S C Gupta, Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Chairman V K Garg and Central Electricity Authority Chairman Rakesh Nath.
While Special Secretaries of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will also be involved in the evaluation of bids for the Sasan Project in Madhya Pradesh, Special Secrataries of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab will be involved for Gujarat-based Mundra coastal project.
The projects are scheduled to be awarded to the successful bidders by December 31.
