Freedom fighter passes away
Betul, MP, Dec 7 (UNI) Freedom fighter Digambar Rao Jain died at his native village, Prabhatpattnam, in Betul district yesterday.
He was 84. He is survived by four sons and two daughters.
The last rites were performed with full state honours today. His son Abhay Jain lit the funeral pyre, Sub-Divisional officer M G Gupta said.
Mr Jain served as a teacher during the British rule. He was sentenced for five-and-half years for opposing the government.
He also served as a 'panch' in the Prabhatpattnam gram panchayat about eleven years.
