Farmers' plea on Hansi-Butana Canal refered to CJ
Chandigarh, Dec 7 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed that the petitions filed by the farmers whose lands have been acquired for the construction of Hansi-Butana canal in Haryana, be referred to a division bench headed by the Chief justice.
The main writ petitions against the construction of the canal are already being heard by that bench, the division bench of Justices Ashutosh Mohunta and Mrs Nirmal Yadav noted.
The division bench comprising the Chief Justice Vijendra Kumar Jain and Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar has fixed the hearing on February 21 after the Haryana government informed that it had submitted the report as directed to the Central Water Commission(CWC) and was awaiting response from the central body.
