Dungarpur win a mandate against Raje govt: Cong
Jaipur, Dec 7 (UNI) Jubiliant over the Dungarpur byelection win, the Congress Party has termed its victory as a mandate against Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government.
Commenting on the win of its candidate Mr Punjilal Parmar, state Congress general secretary and election manager of Dungarpur, Ashk Ali Taak, said the corruption-ridden Raje government tried to win the confidence of the tribal voters in Dungarpur but failed miserably.
He said the ruling government including 18 ministers, officials and Municipal Board chairpersons indulged in pressure politics to buy the tribal votes but the result shows these simple people could not be fooled.
Congress candidate Punjilal Parmar retained the Dungarpur (ST) seat by a margin of 9,879 votes today. Punjilal polled 49,067 against his nearest BJP rival Surmal Parmar who garnered 39,188. The bypoll was held on December 4.
