CPI rubbishes mid-day meal scheme in UP
Lucknow, Dec 7 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today alleged that the mid-day meal scheme has fallen prey to the mismanagement under the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government.
Party leader Ashok Mishra here said the 'pious' scheme of the Centre is suffering due to the mismanagement under Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's regime.
Mr Mishra alleged the food which is not even fit for animals, is being served to children in various primary schools.
''The food which is being served to children under the mid-day meal is full of stones, which is injurious to health,'' he said.
''The state government is serving 'poison' in the form of food under the mid-day meal,'' Mr Mishra alleged.
He said that an immediate ban ought to be imposed on this scheme if the government is really concerned for health issues and wants to avoid problems.
