Counting for bypolls for Pandhana constituency begins
Bhopal, Dec 7: Counting of votes polled during assembly byelection for Pandhana constituency in Madhya Pradesh on December 4 began at 0800 hrs today.
According to official sources, counting began at Subhash High School in Khandwa.
Three assistant election officials were appointed for the purpose and counting began in the presence of Election Commission observers. Results were expected by afternoon.
The byelection was necessitated due to the death of BJP MLA Kishorilal Verma.
The constituency is witnessing a five-cornered contest with main the fight being between BJP nominee and Mr Kishorilal's son Devendra Verma and Congress rival Hiralal Silawat.
However, the presence of Uma Bharti-led Bharatiya Jan Shakti candidate Vasudev Atut has made the contest interesting.
A total of 62.72 per cent voters exercised their franchise for the byelection.
