Congress being vindictive, claims BJP
Shimla, Dec 7 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today accused the state Congress Government of being vindictive towards the BJP, saying it was implicating the party leaders in false cases.
The registration of a criminal case against the sitting MLA from Solan assembly constituency, Rajiv Bindal, was a case in example, party spokesman Randhir Sharma said in a release here.
Accusing the state government of being vindictive towards the BJP members, he said the case was registered against the MLA since he was highlighting rampant corruption in the various state government departments.
Terming the registration of the case against the MLA as ''cheap politics'', Mr Sharma said every person in the country has a right to raise his voice against corruption.
He said since highlighting such issues was the right of the opposition members and the state government had no right to prevent them from doing so and the government would fail to gag their voices by registering false cases against the BJP members.
This showed that either Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had no faith in democracy or was ready to foist false cases against people who raise their voice against corruption and other evils, he said.
The BJP leader said ever since the Congress Government took over power in 2003, it had been registering false cases against the opposition members.
The BJP leader said the present Congress Government had spent majority of its present tenure in plotting against the state BJP leaders, adding that no case of corruption against any of its leaders had been proved until now.
