Centre trying to scuttle Dadri Power project: SP
New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party today charged the government of ''step motherly'' treatment to Uttar Pradesh by ''politicising and scuttling'' the Dadri power project in the state.
Raising the issue during zero hour in the Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh said that the project was first politicised in the names of farmers and now the centre was trying to stop gas supply to the project.
Pointing out that the Supreme Court has allowed the project and during the local bodies elections the party won in Dadri, he said this indicated that the people want the project. ''But now the Petroleum ministry is increasing the gas price despite opposition by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Power minister,''he said.
He said that if the UPA government does not want the Dadri Power project it should also take the responsiblity and not try to shift it on the Samajwadi Party.
