BSNL official convicted in graft case
Bangalore, Dec 7 (UNI) A BSNL Junior Telecom Officer was convicted and sentenced to undergo two years simple imprisonment by the XXXII Additional City Civil and Sessions and Special Judge for CBI Cases in a case relating to his amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Judge A L Pujar, in his verdict delivered yesterday, also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Thimmaraja and to undergo six months simple imprisonment in default of payment of fine, according to a release here today.
The case pertained to Thimmaraja, Junior Telecom Officer, Jagalur Telephone Exchange, Davanagere, BSNL, amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 4,14,894 between December one, 2000, and December 12, 2001.
A criminal case was registered by the CBI Anti-Corruption Branch here against Thimmaraja under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on September 25, 2002. The chargesheet was filed on September three, 2003.
