Bharat Nirman Utsav in South Andaman village concludes
Port Blair, Dec 07 (UNI) The Bharat Nirman Dweep Vikas Utsav Public Information Campaign, organized in Wimberlygunj, a remote village of South Andaman by Press Information Bureau (PIB), in association with the Central Government Media Units, concluded here this evening.
The five day Utsav was focussed on the core flagship programmes implemented by various ministries / organizations to fuel rural growth during the 5 year period.
Programmes such as National Rural Employment Guarantee, Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with universalized midday meal programme, besides implementation of Right to Information Act were highlighted during the Utsav.
Lone Member of Parliament Mr Manoranjan Bhakta, who was the chief guest of the concluding function, said that the real aim of Bharat Nirman is to reach to the village level, where actually India exists.
" How can the targets of Bharat Nirman could be achieved until and unless the village people get pure water and other civil amenities and knowledge of all the schemes of Government of India," he said.
The MP added that some programmes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Mid-Day Meal were framed by the Centre just for the benefit of every citizen, especially village level people.
Mr O N Jaiswal, the officer In-charge of PIB, Port Blair, later told UNI that the overall objective of the campaign was to include and empowering poor and neo-literate living in rural areas and remote places by giving them access to information on various policies and programmes under the flagship schemes of the government.
Earlier, it was decided by the Central government to organize Public Information Campaigns across the country and Press Information Bureau was made the nodal agency that coordinated the Public Information Campaigns.
" Besides line ministries and central government departments, banks, insurance companies, NGOs, user societies and local business houses were also involved in this campaign to make this campaign purposeful and target oriented," Jaiswal added.
The PIB Port Blair had also roped in local units of Doordarshan and All India Radio for all kind of assistance.
