Barbados to get additional $13 million for CWC 2007 preparations
Bridgetown, Barbados, Dec 7 (UNI) An additional 13 million dollar will be invested in Barbados to strengthen security arrangements and upgrade public facilities as it prepares to host six super 8 round matches along with the final of next year's World Cup.
Barbados' Deputy Prime Minister Mia Mottley said the additional investment will also be used to improve health and transport services in the country.
''One of the largest spending requirements was 3.2 million to cover Barbados' security commitments under a US.8 million arrangement with CARICOM member countries hosting the games,'' she was quoted as saying in the Parliament by CMC Sports.
The planned beautification project 2.2 million Barbados dollar and will include the renovation of public facilities and roads.
''The rest of the funds will be allocated toward other special project including the transportation master plan, health facilities and other areas which will be required under the host nation agreement,'' she said.
