Bahuroopi fest: Jayamala opens film festival
Mysore, Dec 7 (UNI) Noted Kannada actor Jayamala today inaugurated a film festival as part of the national theatre festival Bahuroopi 2006 here.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayamala praised the activities of Rangayana in popularising folk art and theatre and regretted that theatre had taken a back seat with films taking the lead.
Calling for more such film festivals to be hosted in the State, she said that as films were a medium for sending across various social messages, it should reach all sections of the society.
The Bahuroopi theatre festival was not just a feast for the eyes and ears through plays and folk songs, but also to tickle the taste buds with a spread of delicacies originating from various places in the State. The mouth-watering spread included Suvarna Dose, Hirekari dose, Kadubu, Pathrode and Akki Shyavige from Kundapur, together with savouries from Nanipur and North Karnataka.
