Arjun puts Punjab in commanding position
Patiala, Dec 7 (UNI) A blistering unbeaten century by Arjun Kumar has placed Punjab in an invincible position against Maharashtra on the penultimate day of the Polly Umrigar Trophy (Under-15) here at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
He scored a fluent 120 in 202 balls, paying scant respect to the Maharashtra bowlers. Overnight on 58 without loss, the Punjab batsmen made merry on a sunny day, subjecting the Maharashtra bowlers to humiliation.
Pargat Singh scored a fluent 89 in 190 balls which contained 12 fours, Ankit was not far behind, scoring 86 in 294 balls which comprised 7 fours and a huge six. At stumps, Punjab was 325 for 2 in 123 overs.
Madhusudan was the only Maharashtra bowler to capture the lone wicket, while the other batsman was run out.
Punjab has already taken a lead of 133 runs with 8 wickets in hand. Giving company to Arjun Kumar is Mandeep Singh on an unbeaten 22.
Maharashtra was all out for 192 in 66 overs yesterday. The final day's play tomorrow will merely be a formality since Maharashtra do not have even a slender chance to turn the match in their favour.
