New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Union Government, UGC and Indian Nursing Council on the petition of premier private institution Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, seeking grant of recognition to its nursing and LL.B. courses.

Justice Anil Kumar asked Ministry of Human Resource Development(HRD), University Grants Commission(UGC) and Indian Nursing Council(INC) to file their replies by January 25, the next date of hearing.

The University has sought directions to the UGC to incorporate its name in the list of universities as enumerated in the Section 2(f) of the UGC act.

It has also asked for direction to the INC to consider its application for grant of recognition to its nursing courses under the Indian Nursing Act.

The university has also sought direction to the UGC to recognise the degrees including LL.B. under the UGC Act.

Amity University, earlier recognised as a university registered at Chhattisgarh, was derecognised by an order of the Supreme Court.

The petition filed by Prof Raj Singh, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, has submitted that the university was granted the status of an university by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh on March 24, 2005.

The University, having its campus at Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, has applied for recognition to the UGC.

But despite repeated reminders, the commission was yet to receive any favourable response, said the petition.
