53 MIGs destroyed in 4 years

New Delhi,Dec 7(UNI)A total of 53 MIGs have been destroyed between 2001-2002 and November 30, 2006, the Lok Sabha was told today.

Minister for Defence A.K. Antony said in a written answer that the National Aeronautic Laboratory has recommended that the life of MIG-21 BIS and MIG 21 Bison could be increased by 1000 hrs and 5 years.

A second opinion from any organisation was not considered necessary in this case,the Minister said,adding technical consultation with experts and organisations were undertaken whenever required. This was a continuous process.
