12 teams for Murugappa tourney, Army to defend title

Chennai, Dec 7 (UNI) Twelve top teams in the country have confirmed participation in the 83rd MCC- Muruguppa Gold Cup hockey tournament to be held at the astro turf stadium here from December 17 to 25, organising secretary MCC Rajiv Reddy announced here today.

The teams in fray for the tournament, which was delayed due to the busy international calendar of the senior Indian team, include IHF Development XI, Punjab National Bank, Namdhari XI, Army XI, Border Security Force (BSF), IOC, Indian Railways, Indian Airlines, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Tamil Nadu XI, Air India and Karnataka XI.

Army XI are the defending champions.
