West Bengal gateway for IT development: Kalam

Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) President A P J Kalam today said that West Bengal is going to be a gateway for the South East Asian countries in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector in the near future.

''When the ICT sector started in the country neither was West Bengal a frontrunner nor the NE states were in the scheme of things, he added.

''West Bengal though a late starter can now work as a gateway for importing knowledge community from the South East Asia and prove to be a catalyst for developing the country,'' he said.

The state has a large talent pool which can be utilised in developing the IT sector.
