West bengal a gateway for IT development: Kalam
Kolkata, Dec 06 (UNI) West Bengal will be the gateway for the South East Asian nations in the ICT sector in the near future, A P J Abdul Kalam said here today.
"When the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector started in the country neither was West Bengal a frontrunner nor the NE states were in the scheme of things. But Singapore and Malaysia and other S E Asian countries have gone a long way in this sector," he said.
"West Bengal though a late starter can now work as a gateway for importing knowledge community from the South East Asian countries and prove to be a catalyst for developing the country," he said.
The state has a large talent pool which can be utilised in developing the IT sector.
