VHP renews temple pledge on demolition anniversary

Lucknow, Dec 6 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today renewed its pledge for a grandiose Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, even as the organisation observed the 14th anniversary of the disputed structure demolition as 'Shaurya Diwas' across the country.

Addressing a 'Viraat Dharma Sabha' at Shastri Park in Rakabganj here tonight, VHP president Ashok Singhal reiterated that no force on earth could stop the temple plans at Ayodhya.

''The Ram temple would materialise at the same site in Ayodhya, while any mosque after the name of Babar would not be allowed anywhere in the country,'' Mr Singhal asserted.

The Sabha was attended by a large number of prominent Hindu saints, religious heads and seers associated with the temple movement, including former MP Ram Vilas Vedanti.

Mr Singhal said the Ramanand sect of Ayodhya would take a leading part in the construction of the temple to be spearheaded by the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas.

He announced a three-day 'Hindu Sammelan' would be held at Allahabad starting February 11, 2007 during Ardh Kumbh, where saints and seers would chalk out a strategy for the temple construction.

Meanwhile, VHP will also organise a two-day 'Dharma Sansad' at Allahabad during Ardh Kumbh from January 16, 2007, which would prominently discuss the temple issue.

The VHP leader also mentioned the ''liberation'' of the Hindu religious places in Varanasi and Mathura and exhorted the community to get united for the cause.

Without naming anyone, Mr Singhal quipped some politicians and Hindu religious heads were trying to divide the community in the name of the Ram temple movement.

''The seer sitting on a high pedestal is trying to mislead the saints to merely hog the limelight,'' he observed.

Mr Singhal also expressed concern over conversions and alleged 18 Church outfits were actively involved in converting Hindus to Christianity through ''coerciow and terrorism.'' ''It is an international conspiracy against the Hindus supported by massive funding from abroad,'' he claimed.

He held Congress president Sonia Gandhi responsible for the ''activities'' of Christian missionaries.

''Conversions are on in full swing in several states in the country, including Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Asom, West Bengal and Gujarat,'' he alleged.
