Two accused in Malegaon blast case retract confession
Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) Two accused in the Malegaon blast case, in their submission before the the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court, today said they wanted to retract their confessional statement given before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Shaikh Mohammad Ali Alam Shaikh and Asif Khan Bashir Khan Junaid retracted their confessional statement, which was recorded by the court.
Earlier, The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) produced five accused, who were in police custody, before MCOCA court judge M R Bhatkar for their remand. As sought by the police, court granted police custody till December 16 to Mohamed Zahid Abdul Majid arrested on November 22 in the case for further interrogation.
However, Salman Farsi Abdul Latif Aimi, Faruq Iqbal Ahmed Magdumi, Shaikh Mohammad Ali Alam Shaikh and Asif Khan Basir Khan Junaid have been granted judicial custody till December 15.
Meanwhile, three other accused in the case--Noorul Huda Samsudoha, Shabir Ahmed Masiullah and Rais Ahmed Razaq Mansuri are already in judicial custody till December 15.
Three blasts on September 8 this year in and around a mosque at Malegaon in Nasik district, had killed 25 people and injured 240 others injured. The ATS has, so far, arrested eight persons in connection with the blasts.
