Scope for increasing trade with India bright: Polish Consul

Ahmedabad, Dec 6 (UNI) Scope for increasing trade, investment and economic cooperation between Poland and India, including Gujarat, was very bright, Polish Consul in Mumbai Jerzy Midak said here today.

Speaking at an interactive session on ''Doing Business with Poland'', organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce&Industry (GCCI), with cooperation from Nasscom and GESIA, Mr Midak said Poland is the fifth attractive destination, next to India, in the world for investment.

For the first time, a delegation from Poland has come to the country to explore opportunities to increase trade and economic cooperation between Poland and India, he said.

The Consul expressed hope that the delegation's visit to various cities across India like Ahmedabad and Mumbai, will prove useful in increasing trade and investment.

Madhu Kotak, chairman, Poland India Business Council, FICCI, New Delhi said the people of Poland are young and dynamic and cooperative.

He urged the business community from Gujarat to positively respond to the invitation by Poland for investment in that country.

In her welcome address, GCCI senior vice president Paruben Jaykrishna said India's trade with the European Union, of which Poland is a member, is quite significant. Gujarat, with its diverse industrial base, offers tremendous opportunities for investment.

However, the state is at a nascent stage insofar as IT is concerned, yet Gujarat is determined to quicken its march for speedy development in this field, she added.
