Puducherry, Dec 6: Puducherry Principal District and Sessions judge M Chinna Pandi, hearing the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are main accused, today posted the case to January three, pending the disposal of the Special Leave Petition(SLP) before the Supreme Court.

Seventeen out of the 24 accused, including Jayendra and Vijayendra Saraswati failed to turn up before the court today.

However, counsel for the accused barring accused no 13 Meenakshi Sundaram filed separate petitions citing the reasons for their absence.

When Mr Chinna Pandi questioned the absence of Meenakshi Sundaram, the defence counsel informed the court that she was assaulted by an unidentified gang yesterday in Chennai and was in a critical condition. The judge took note of this and confirmed the incident with inspector Nagaraj of the CB-CID Kancheepuram and later posted the case to January three.
