Rupee opens high at 44.49/51 against per USD

Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) The Rupee today opened higher by three paise and was quoted at Rs 44.49/51 against the US dollar as compared to it's previous close of Rs 44.52/53 per USD, as foreign and nationalised banks resort to sustained heavy selling pressure on the dollar, traders said.

Later, the domestic currency lowered at 44.54/55 during the mid-morning session, due to short-covering by local dealers.

The Rupee went higher again by two paise at Rs 44.50/52 per USD from it's previous close, because of renewal selling of the dollar by foreign and local banks, traders added.
