Rs 12 crore Central assistance to West Bengal under IAY

Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Rural Development has granted Rs 12 crore as Central assistance to the North 24 Parganas District Rural Development Agency by March 2007 for various developmental works.

The first installment of Rs 5 crore under Indira Awas Yajna(IAY) has already been released, while the second instalment of Rs 7 crore was expected soon, official sources here today said.

The grant is aimed at utilising the fund for construction of new houses and upgradation of kutcha ones in accordance with the conditions laid down by the IAY.

The expenditure on the implementation of the programme is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the State respectively with the State Government deciding to release its share within a month of the release of the Central assistance, the sources added.
