REL's Dahanu Power Plant bags International Quality Crown

Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) Reliance Energy's Dahanu Thermal Power Station (DTPS) has bagged the International Quality Crown for Excellence and Business Prestige in golden category this year in London.

The global recognition has been instituted by Business Initiative Directions (BID). Dahanu Thermal Power Plant recieved the award for its susccessful implementation of various critical criterions, as prescribed by the BID's QC100, a total Quality Management (TQM) model, implemented in over 116 countries, a release issued here today said.

The Dahanu Power Plant is the only power plant in India to have bagged global recognition twice - The International Quality Crown and the recently conferred Platt's recognisation, the release claimed.

Some of the earlier IQC award winners includes - Indian Oil Corporation, Sheraton Harare Hotel and Towers, Shahnaz Husain of Shahnaz Herbals, Beijing Cofco Plaza Development, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Hong Yuen Electronics Ltd.

The selection for the award is based on polls and recommendations by various companies, which have been awarded in previous years. This year 166 countries participated in the process.

The panel of juries, presided by the CEO of BID, President of the IQC and the co-authors of the QC100 model. Presidents of companies awarded in previous years collaborate voluntarily with the jury, to present other candidates for the IQC, the release said.
