Ranga Shankara launches theatre for children
Bangalore, Dec 6 (UNI) Ranga Shankara, a noted repertory, today launched 'Theatre for Children' programme 'AHA', under which 50 plays will be staged exclusively for school children annually.
Briefing newspersons on the initiative, Ranga Shankara Creative Director Arundhati Nag said the programme, supported by Britannia Industries, would have Kannada and English plays produced in the first year. She had plans to bring at least 20,000 children to watch the plays every year.
Ranga Shankara's home production 'Gumma Banda Gumma' (here comes the devil) would be staged as the opener on December 12.
''Continuous activity for children in the form of plays, workshops (both for children and teachers), international theatre and puppetry fests has been planned under AHA,'' Ms Nag said.
Renowned writer and theatre personality Girish Karnad, a trustee of Ranga Shankara, said the programme was launched with a view to create future directors, actors and a set of dedicated audience.
