Bangalore, Dec 6 (UNI) Accusing Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of committing electoral offences, former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Congress candidate for Chamundeswari Assembly segment for which bypoll was held on Monday, has urged the Election Commission to initiate legal action against him.

In a letter written to the EC, a copy of which was released to the media by the party here today, he said that despite orders to all politicians to leave the constituency, Mr Kumaraswamy had stayed back in a farmhouse in the constituency and was caught by the media and the Congress workers.

''In a nearby farmhouse, the EC officials seized T-shirts, umbrellas, utensils, sports kits bearing JD(S) symbol, apart from cutouts of the Chief Minister. Both the incidents were published by both print and electronic media. It was noticed by the EC officials that a huge supply of liquor was taken from Bangalore to Mysore during the election,'' he said.

Mr Siddaramaiah said the Chief Minister and the leaders of JD(S) and its coalition partner BJP had committed offences under provisions of section 123 and Chapter-III of the Representation of the People's Act, 1951.

''Taking cognisance of the corrupt practices committed by the Chief Minsiter, other Ministers and the two party leaders, please initiate appropriate legal action against them,'' he urged.
