Prof's death: charges framed against six ABVP workers

Ujjain, MP, Dec 6 (UNI) A local court today framed charges against six ABVP workers in connection with the murder of Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal.

The accused were today presented before District Sessions Judge A K Sharma, who framed chrages under section 302, 149 and 147 of the IPC.

Defence Counsel Jai Singh pleaded that Professor Sabharwal's death was merely an accident and not a planned murder. As such, a case should be registered under section 304 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

However, Prof Sabharwal's son Himanshu's counsel Kailash Nagar contended that Prof Sabharwal's murder was carried out in planned manner and wanted that charges be framed under section 302.

Prof Sabharwal had died on August 26 when he was allegedly attacked by students irked over postponement of student union election.

The CBI had arrested six ABVP workers Shashiranjan Akela, Vimal Tomar, Hemanth Dubey, Sudhir Yadav, Vishal Rajoria and Pankaj Mishra in connection with the case.
