Islamabad, Dec 6 (UNI) Most members of Pakistan's pro-Taliban Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have recommended that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal delay resignations and adopt an anti-government protest in consultation with other opposition parties.

Daily Times reported today that a JUI-F central executive committee meeting held here yesterday focused on the issue of resigning from the National Assembly in protest against the passing of the Women's Protection Bill.

Central JUI leader and deputy secretary general of the MMA Hafiz Hussain Ahmed as well as other party leaders including Shujaaul Mulk, Riaz Durnai and Maulana Nazir Faruqi, however, supported the idea that the MMA immediately resign from the National Assembly.

According to the sources, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed told the meeting that he had not violated the discipline of his party or the MMA because the MMA supreme council had unanimously decided that all MNAs would resign if the bill was passed.

He also urged the members of the central executive committee to implement the decision to resign, the sources added.

He said the MMA governments in Balochistan and NWFP would have to implement the bill, adding that MMA leaders should make a decision on resignations after deliberations, and once made, they should stick to it.
