Police out-post damaged by angry mob
Kolhapur, Dec 6 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Saravde village here today when an irate mob went on the rampage and damaged a police out-post after the death of a local autorickshaw driver.
The autorickshaw driver Prakash Ghadge, was allegedly taken into custody by the police after he was found ferrying passengers illegally yesterday.
Police said he was released yesterday itself, however, his body was found today.
Police have registered a case of suicide but locals here are not prepared to buy the story.
They alleged that Prakash has died due to police torture.
They have gathered in large numbers in front of the Sarvade police out-post and indulged stone throwing. Even the nearby residences of two policemen have been damaged.
District superintendent of police (DSP) Sukhawinder Singh has rushed to the spot.
