PM's security breach viewed seriously by Kerala Govt

New Delhi, Dec 6: The Kerala Government has viewed ''very seriously'' the security lapse during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent visit to the state and placed the Pilot Officer under suspension, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal said the Inspector General of Police (Security) and the Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram were also transferred out from their respective posts.

The Prime Minister's convoy had strayed from its charted route during his visit to Kerala and the pilot car was being driven by a private taxi operator.

Mr Jaiswal said the Kerala government was making all efforts to ensure foolproof security arrangements for VVIPs in the state.

He also informed that the Central government had been advising all State and Union Territory goverments to strictly implement all the security guidelines circulated by his ministry in order to avoid to recurrence of such incidents.
