Night curfew re-imposed in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 6 (UNI) Curfew was re-imposed in the city tonight as a precautionary measure from 2130 hrs till 0600 hrs tomorrow, as the situation continued to be peaceful, after violence erupted here in protest against the desecration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's statue in Kanpur last week.
Deputy Commissioner of Police K G Patil told UNI that police authorities have decided to lift the curfew totally from tomorrow.
Earlier in the day, the Shiv Sena activists led by their local leaders performed 'Maha-arti' at the Sansthan Ganpati Temple to celebrate the annivarsary of the demolition of Babri Masjid, while various Muslim organisations in the city observed a ' Protest Day' to mark the 14th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid at Ayodhya.
Members of Majlis-E-Shura also submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner demanding the setting up of a fast-track court, to hear cases in connection with the demolition of Babri Masjid.
