NASSCOM to open office in Kolkata

Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) NASSCOM, the premier trade body of the Indian IT industry, today announced that it would set up a regional office in Kolkata during 2007.

Announcing the plans for NASSCOM in West Bengal, Mr. B Ramalinga Raju, Founder and Chairman of Satyam Computer Services and Chairman, NASSCOM said, ''The Indian IT and software industry is continuously renewing itself and seeking to grow. Among the emerging destinations, we see West Bengal making a prominent mark. To ensure we are able to give enough attention to the region, we will be setting up a regional office in Kolkata in the first half of 2007.'' ''NASSCOM has been present in West Bengal through several industry events and has about 35 members in the region, in addition to a strong presence of leading multinational and domestic IT players. We feel the time is apt to strengthen our focus in the region,'' he added.

''Almost three years back WEBEL had offered space to NASSCOM in Salt Lake for setting up office in the city.
