Muslims will respect any judgement on Ayodhya issue: BMAC

Faizabad, Dec 6 (UNI) Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) today said Muslims would respect the court judgement on the Ayodhya issue, even if the verdict went ''against the community.'' ''For some reasons, if the court judgement goes against the cause of the demolised Babri Masjid, Muslims would respect and follow the verdict,'' BMAC convenor Jafaryab Jilani told UNI over telephone here.

Mr Jilani observed Muslims held the judiciary in high esteem.

He criticised the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government for failing to get trial of one of the Ayodhya demolition cases transferred from Rae Bareli to Lucknow.

Mr Jilani is also a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB).

He also demanded the central government prevented the Vishwa Hindu Parishad from organising programmes related to the temple cause.

''When the matter is sub-judice, any programme related to the Ayodhya dispute should not be allowed to take place,'' the BMAC counsel observed.

Mr Jilani noted the bullet-proofing around the makeshift 'Ramlala' temple in Ayodhya was not justified.

''If this is being done in the name of security, then why do not such measures being resorted to at various important temples in the country,'' he sought to know.

Mr Jilani suggested Parliament had witnessed a terrorist attack and it is a fit case for such bullet-proofing.

The BMAC convenor said the current level of security at the disputed land here was appropriate, since the security aspect is with the state government and the management of the premises is vested with the centre.

Like every year, VHP is celebrating the 14th anniversary of the demolition of the disputed structure here today as 'Shaurya Diwas', while the Muslims are observing the day as 'Kala Diwas' (black day).
