Mill auctioned for Rs 9 cr on failing to pay dues

Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Dec 6 (UNI) The Ariyur Cooperative Spinning Mill in Vellore was auctioned for Rs 9 crore today as it failed to pay the dues of Rs 2.10 lakh to the Commercial Tax department.

The mill was started during the tenure of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj. Since the mill was suffering losses for sometime, nearly 800 employees had lost their jobs.

The Commercial Tax Department took the decision to auction the mill as despite sending several notices to the mill, it failed to respond.
