MCCIA calls for Maharashtra Bandh on December 11
Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) The Maharashtra Chember of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) has called for a 'State-wide Bandh on December 11 to press their demand for abolishing Octroi in the state.
A member of Jakatkar Hatao Samiti (Abolish Octroi) said here today that despite several assurance given by the Government in this regard till date nothing has been done.
The Samiti had earlier spearheaded several dharnas and bandhs in the state to press their demands, a release said.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is earning more than Rs 2500 crore per annum by way of Octroi. Maharashtra is one the few states where octroi still continued, the member said adding that most of the other states in the country has already abolished Octroi.
