Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, whose indefinite hunger strike entered the third day today, threatened that she would prefer death to yielding farm land at Singur to the Tatas for the small car unit.

Talking to newsmen here, she said, ''Either I will die or the acquisition of farm land be stopped.'' ''I fail to understand why the Centre is tightlipped on the whole issue,'' she wondered.

Ms Banerjee also appealed to all the political parties and people in general to participate in the Krishi Jamin Raksha Committee (KJRC) rally in Baidyabati tomorrow.

''It is not Trinamool's programme, it is the programme for all,'' she opined.

A five-member KJRC delegation team comprising leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Partho Chatterjee, Mukul Roy, Anuradha Deb, Amitava Dutta and Niren Sanyal met President A P J Abdul Kalam and apprised him of the latest Singur situation, she said.
