Maiden branch of Corporation bank opened at Guwahati

Guwahati, Dec 6 (UNI) Corporation Bank, a leading public sector bank, today opened its maiden branch with core banking facility here.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Bank's zonal manager D L N Murthy informed that the bank's aim was to reach its business level of Rs 1 lakh crore by 2009 against Rs 70,000 crore currently.

The bank has plans to open 600 new outlets in the next three years, taking the tally of outlets to 2,400 across the country and cent per cent of its branches under core banking solutions by March, 2007. Second branch in the North East would be set up in Shillong in Meghalaya.

Mr Murthy said the bank has its sights on overseas operations and plans to open a representative office in Gulf countries, followed by Hong Kong and China.

The Bank has made an alliances in adjacent markets such as life, non-life and health insurance, export credit guarantee cover and sale of mutual funds, gold banking, tax collection and Dmat services to cater to all needs of the customers. The bank also offers a wide range of finance schemes to the farming community, he said.

Mr C K Gopal Krishnan of NABARD was present as the guest of honor on the occasion.
