LIC to conduct athletic meet in city from tomorrow

Vijayawada, Dec 6 (UNI) The Machilipatnam Division of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) would conduct the two-day 40th South Central Zone Athletic Meet, 2006-2007, commencing here tomorrow.

Talking to media this evening, LIC Divisional Manager (Personnel) N N Srihari said a sports recruit players including national and international players from athletics in the south zone, comprising Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, would participate in the meet.

He said the meet would be inaugurated by Vijayawada Railway Superintendent of Police K Venkateswara Rao.

Srihari said the LIC's national meet would be held in Bhopal from January 8 to 12, where players from corporations in seven zones in the country, would compete for all disciplines like athletics, badminton, carrom, chess, table tennis and volleyball.
