Karnataka's strong reply to Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 6 (UNI) Karnataka replied strongly to Hyderabad, while Uttar Pradesh gained upperhand against Rajasthan in the All India Under-17 cricket Tournament for Vijay Merchant Trophy here today.

After bowling out Hyderabad for 251 in 106.2 overs Karnataka made 244 losing three wickets in 71 overs at the close of play on day two. Resuming at 224 for nine, Hyderabad were finally all out for 251 in 448 minutes off 106.2 overs. Manish Gabriel remained unbeaten on 36. Abrar Kazi (6/62) was the pick of the Karnataka bowlers.

Later Manish Pandey (134, off 155 balls, 18x4, 1x6) and Arjun Hoysala (70 n o, 193 balls, 6x4) rescued Karnataka from 30/2 to a strong position by adding 177 runs for the third wicket.

In another match Uttar Pradesh gained 76 runs first innings lead with their side all out for 237 in 86.4 overs against Rajasthan.

Bhawani Singh (53, 8x4), Akash Varma (35, 6x4) and Amit Mishra (39, 1x6, 5x4) were chief scoreres for Uttar Pradesh, while Ashok Manria (4/25) and Sandeep Parihar (3/25) shone with the ball for Rajasthan.

Rajasthan made 58 with out lose in 21 overs in the second innings.

Brief Scores: Hyderabad 251, Karnataka 244/3 in 76 overs Rajasthan 161, Uttar Pradesh 237 in 86.4 overs, Rajasthan 58/0 in 21 overs.
