Kalam to open MST Radar meet on Dec 11

Tirupati, Dec 6 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the five-day XI International Workshop on Technical and Scientific Aspects of MST Radar at the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) at Gadanki near here on December 11.

Addressing a press conference, NARL Director D Narayana Rao said the President, a poineer in missile technology, will also visit the NARL which has become a prime centre for atmospheric research in the country and operated a state-of-the art MST Radar used for studying mesosphere, stratosphere and troposphere (MST) regions in the atmosphere.

International experts meet once in two to three years deliberate upon developments in the field of Radar research.

It also offers excellent opportunities to young scientists, research students and new entrants to the field for close interaction with the experts.

Mr Rao said the workshop will provide a forum to formulate international scientific collaborations and enhance the global visibility and scientific reputation of the NARL.

The workshop would also give on opportunity to showcase recent scientific and technical contributions the NARL made in the field of lower, middle and upper atmospheric sciences.
