Indian automotive conference, expo on Dec 12, 13

Chennai, Dec 6 (UNI) 'Auto SCM India 2006', the Indian Automotive Supply Chain Conference and Exposition will be held here on December 12 and 13.

Organised by the CII, the conference, to be inaugurated by Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, would focus on Supply Chain Management as a strategic differentiator and a key value driver for the automotive industry.

The Conference would deliberate upon the key areas like global trends in automotive supply chain, challenges in supply chain management in outbound logistics after market operations and export marketing, emerging trends in inbound logistics outsourcing, supply chain measurements and metrics, benchmarking -- supply chain and IT -- a key enabler for supply chain integration.

Conference Chairman R Dinesh, in a release here today said "SCM is a critical element for success in an automobile company and it evolves as the most significant value driver for companies to derive competitive advantage".

The challenges automobile manufacturers and suppliers face today include global competition, cost reduction, quality improvement and reducing time to market.
