Honda Siel to invest Rs 400 cr in expansion: Official
Chennai, Dec 6 (UNI) The Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) will expand its existing car manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh at an additional investment of Rs 400 crore, Company General Manager (Sales) Jnaneswar Sen today said.
Speaking at the launch of Honda's new CR-V model here, Mr Sen told mediapersons the proposed expansion would help the company increase its monthly production to one lakh cars a month from the existing 2000 cars.
He said the company had plans to establish a new manufacturing unit for small cars shortly for which it was scouting for a location in the states Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Sen claimed the new CR-V model, placed in premium segment, would redefine the SUV segment in India and change the way SUVs were viewed and driven in India.
Apart from aerodynamic styling and superior engine performance, the new SUV model had the best-in-class safety features to ensure passenger safety, he claimed.
Making its debut in world market in 1995, the CR-V had sold more than 2.5 million units.
In India, the company had sold 5,547 CRV units after its launch.
